Summer is now well and truly over and done with, but what could be better than an atmospheric Cornish Autumn holiday in the seaside village of #Porthleven, south west #Cornwall. Here at The Gables Self-Catering, we are centrally located and only a couple of minutes’ walk from the picturesque harbour. Alternatively, Walk through misty woods at Penrose Estate; wander around the beautiful Loe Pool and Loe Bar, or relax at one of the many cafes and restaurants lining the harbour.
The Ship Inn
Our favourite pub in Porthleven, the Ship Inn, will always give you a warm welcome and it’s really nice on an autumnal evening to sit by the cosy open fire, glass (or meal) in hand, watching the churning sea. Check out chef Rueben Green’s creations on his Instagram page –
I do love this time of year in Cornwall. Summer is wonderful, of course, but busy. Now, things have quietened down slightly, there is less traffic and I think a Cornish autumn holiday is definitely recommended. Porthleven is generally very dog-friendly and many of the cafes and other businesses leave bowls of water out for our furry friends. More walks have now been opened up in Penrose Estate – which is currently looking very autumnal.
