Summer is now well and truly over and done with, but what could be better than an atmospheric Cornish Autumn holiday in the seaside village of #Porthleven, south west #Cornwall....
The weather is always a bit dodgy this time of year but on brighter days, it can be a great time for photographing Cornish sunsets. One of my favourite places to walk the dog and to photograph Cornish sunsets is Praa Sands beach at low tide, just a short drive from #Porthleven. The sand is fairly compacted and stays wet, which reflects some vivid colours when the sun starts to go down.
Another favourite spot for winter walking is Marazion #beach with St Michael’s Mount in the background. Again, at low tide there is a wide expanse of beach and in the autumn and winter months, the sun sets in the south west, not due west, because of the tilt of planet earth. Both Praa Sands beach and Marazion beach are good for dog walking, although during the summer months, there is a daytime dog ban from 1st May to 30th September. One of my most regular walks is along the cliffs west of Porthleven, which is another great place for photographing the Cornish sunsets.
Porthleven is a very dog-friendly village and there is only a small section of beach where, during the summer months, dogs are not permitted. Many of the eating establishments here in Porthleven also welcome dogs and some of the shops even leave bowls of fresh water outside for thirsty animals.
